When I was fifteen I fell down the stairs at home.

I bounced up and didn’t think much of it until the headaches started a few months later. They were debilitating. I couldn’t move when they would strike. Nothing seemed to help them. I was having trouble concentrating in school, I stopped playing sport, gained weight and no one seemed to know what were causing the headaches. After countless tests, MRI’s, and CAT scans I was told nothing was wrong. Apparently something was very wrong. My parents heard from a friend I should try a chiropractor. “A chiropractor?”  I started getting better and after a few weeks I stopped getting the headaches all together. I was thankful to have my life back again.

Ever since I can remember I loved science. Yes, I was one of THOSE kids. Naturally, I thought I would become a medical doctor. Well, I became a doctor but never dreamed I would have become a chiropractor at the time. During college I did extensive research in the area of Brain Physiology & Anatomy. I eventually started teaching about the brain and the nervous system. After college I went to work at USC Medical School in the Department of Neurology doing research on Multiple Sclerosis. While working at USC I was trying to decide, do I want to go to medical school or do I want to continue doing research? I wasn’t sure. I was looking for a way to combine my love for the nervous system and teach people about their body, nutrition and how to live a healthier life.

Education

It finally hit me when talking to my chiropractor that chiropractic did all of that and more. I enrolled at Cleveland Chiropractic College. During my time there my courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care. It really was everything I wanted. I graduated Summa Cum Laude.

I continued my education after chiropractic college specializing in the Activator Technique in which I am advanced certified.

I opened my own practice in 2005. I make it my priority to make every patient feel comfortable. I remember the concerns I had when I first went to my chiropractor. So HealthWorks makes it a point to explain everything in advance and answer all your questions. I love what I do and love those days when patients “get it.”

I have also become an avid cyclist participating in numerous centuries and I just completed the AIDS ride in 2010.

HealthWorks uses a "whole person approach" when taking care of patients. By combining the very best hands-on-technique, state of the art physiotherapy procedures and providing the newest and best natural vitamins and mineral supplements on the market today. Dr. Phil Asks some important questions of interest to Los Feliz residents - Chiropractor Los Feliz Dr. Phil Asks...

Can those with osteoporosis get chiropractic care?
Of course. When developing a care plan, we consider the unique circumstances of each client. There are many ways we can adjust the spine. The chiropractic method we select will be best suited to your age, size and unique situation.
How could a child benefit from chiropractic?
Regardless of our age, each of us in Los Feliz encounters physical, chemical and emotional stresses that exceed our ability to handle. For newborns, it could be the trauma encountered at birth. For toddlers it could be from learning to walk or ride a bike. Many of the problems we chiropractors see in adults are the result of neglected traumas from childhood.
